iExpert

iExpert is a hands-on training program aimed at residents in specialty training, introduced as a new initiative in the 18th edition of the iMed Conference®, with the goal of elevating medical knowledge and technical proficiency to the highest level of excellence.

Through cadaver-based workshops, participants gain access to a distinctive practical learning experience. The program focuses on refining technical precision and strengthening clinical decision-making skills, contributing to the development of more confident, competent, and well-prepared specialists.

  • Intended for General Training Residents and 1st/2nd-year Neurosurgery Residents

    Objective: To acquire theoretical and technical skills for performing basic neurosurgical craniotomies.

    10:30–11:00 – Theoretical introduction: techniques for performing basic craniotomies

    11:00 – Hands-on cadaver session
    • Burr hole drilling
    • Supratentorial craniotomies (pterional, temporal, parasagittal)
    • Infratentorial craniotomies (median suboccipital and retrosigmoid)

  • Intended for General and Specialty Training Residents of any specialty.

    Objective: To equip participants with essential knowledge on organ donation and transplantation, from donor identification and communication with the family to organ retrieval.

    Objective: To train participants in ENT surgical techniques

    10:30–11:00 – Theoretical introduction: fundamentals of the surgical techniques to be performed.

    11:00–13:30 – Cadaver hands-on session

    • Nasal/Sinus: endoscopic dissection of one nasal cavity, anterior and posterior ethmoidectomy, frontal and sphenoidal sinusotomy, orbital decompression, and sphenopalatine artery ligation

    • Neck: cervical lymph node dissection, levels I to V
