Dr. Suzanne Zeedyk is a research scientist fascinated by babies’ inborn capacity to communicate. Since 1993, she has been based at the University of Dundee, within the School of Psychology. She completed her PhD in Developmental Psychology at Yale University.

In 2011, Suzanne stepped away from a full-time academic post in order to establish an independent training enterprise. Its aim is to help the public understand all that science has discovered about the importance of emotional connection for human health and happiness.

During her career, she has served on a range of committees and in a variety of roles.  These include co-editor of an academic journal, chair of a committee of the British Psychological Society, Associate College Dean, Coordinator of Research Postgraduate Students, and external examiner.

Tore Curstedt began his career in 1974 by earning his PhD from the Department of Medical and Physiological Chemistry at the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm. Specialising in phospholipid metabolism, he has dedicated his career to advancing treatments for infants with RDS. Curstedt remained at his alma mater in various positions, including Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer in Medical Chemistry and Assistant Director of the largest clinical laboratory in northern Europe.

The author of 14 patents and some 200 original articles, Curstedt has been recognised with numerous awards, including the Hilda and Alfred Eriksson’s Prize by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences (1998), the Swedish Heart-Lung Foundation’s Lars Werkö Prize (2004) (jointly with co-inventor Robertson), and the Chiesi Prize for Excellence in Neonatology (2011).

Professor José Luís Passos Coelho is a senior oncologist at Instituto Portugues de Oncologia  Francisco Gentil and Head of Oncology at Hospital da Luz and Hospital Beatriz Angelo. Additionally, he’s Professor of Oncology at Nova Medical School.

He undertook part of his Internal Medicine Residency in Dallas, Texas as well as a Master of Sciences in Clinical Investigation at John Hopkins. His research focuses on breast cancer and on new and innovative breast cancer therapies.

Professor Mette Kalager completed her medical training in General Surgery and breast cancer surgery and went on to become, from 2004 to 2006, the Head of the Norwegian Breast Cancer Screening Programme. Her doctoral thesis focuses on mammography screening and its effect on mortality from breast cancer, and the relative amount of overdiagnosis of breast cancer in screening programs. With over 75 publications, she has received numerous fellowships and awards for her research and she has held various leadership and management positions. Currently, she works as an Associate Professor at Oslo University, as well as a Researcher in the Oslo University Hospital and at the Harvard School of Public Health.

Caroline Robert is the Head of the Dermatology Service at Gustave Roussy Cancer Campus and co-director of the Melanoma Research Unit at INSERM 981 Paris-Saclay University. She trained at the Paris V University, France and completed a research fellowship at Harvard University in Cancer Immunology and Immunotherapy. She is full Professor of Dermatology and responsible for teaching Dermatology and Dermato-Oncology in Paris-Saclay University Medicine School. She has authored more than 350 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

She is past-president of the Melanoma group of the European Organization for the Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) and is board member for various scientific societies.

She has also received numerous awards and prizes for her work.

Dr Nicholas McGranahan completed his undergraduate degree in Natural Sciences, specializing in Evolutionary Genetics, at the University of Bath before pursuing post-graduate studies at University College London at the Centre of Mathematics and Physics in the Life Science and Experimental Biology (CoMPLEX). In 2011, Dr McGranahan joined Professor Charles Swanton’s group at the CR-UK London Research Institute (now the Francis Crick Institute), completing a PhD in Cancer Genomics in 2015. Dr McGranahan has authored over 40 articles in high impact journals, including first author publications in Science, Nature and Cancer Cell.

Diogo Casal is a researcher and a surgeon, working as an Anatomy Assistant Professor at Nova Medical School since 2018. He has authored 70 papers in scientific journals and contributed to 6 medical textbooks.

Since joining the Aesthetic and Reconstructive Plastic Surgery Residency at the University Hospital Center of Lisbon (CHULC) in 2006, he has participated as an assistant and as a surgeon in over 6000 surgical procedures. Since then, he has been particularly involved in microsurgery, peripheral nervous system surgery, lymphedema surgery, traumatology and upper limb surgery.

Dr. David Leonard is a senior Specialty Registrar in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, and a Clinical Lecturer at the University of Glasgow. He has trained at the internationally renowned Canniesburn Plastic Surgery Unit in Glasgow. He has a specialist interest in upper limb reconstruction and replacement, and works closely with the UK Hand Transplant Service, based in Leeds, in support of patient care, and research activity.

He has authored numerous high impact publications, and international presentations, and has been recognized for his research with the award of an Hunterian Professorship from the Royal College of Surgeons of England, and The Professor Tom Gibson Memorial Medal from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.

Dr. Miroslav L. Djordjevic is a Professor of Urology and Surgery at the School of Medicine, University of Belgrade, Serbia. The main field of his multidisciplinary work is urogenital reconstructive surgery.

Professor Djordjevic has been awarded multiple times for his comprehensive scientific work. He is the Editor of many leading Journals and Books, and a member of all relevant international associations in the field of urology and genital reconstructive surgery. As a member of humanitarian societies he actively participated in humanitarian missions over the world. He is the founder and leader of the Belgrade Center for Genital Reconstructive Surgery.

Since 2019, Professor Djordjevic has also been part of the Urology Department, at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York, United States.

Tom Potokar is a Professor at the CGBIPR (Centre for Global Burn Injury Policy and Research) at Swansea University , Director of Interburns and worked for 14 years as a consultant Burns and Plastic Surgeon at the Welsh Centre for Burns and Plastic Surgery.

He contributed to the WHO 5 Year Plan for Burn Care and Prevention, and is Lead for Education and Capacity Building of the WHO Global Alliance for Care of the Injured as well as an active member of the WHO Global Initiative for Emergency and Essential Surgical Care. He has over 40 publications including several book chapters and has presented at numerous national and international meetings and is a regular reviewer for a number of burns journals.

Tom was awarded an OBE in the 2016/7 New Year’s Honours list for services to global burn care and prevention.

Emília C. Monteiro is the former NMS|FCM Vice-Dean for education and she has been a full Professor of Pharmacology and former chair of the Medical Devices curricular unit of the Integrated  Master in Medicine at NOVA Medical School (NMS|FCM), Universidade NOVA de Lisboa.

She took her Medical Degree at the University of Navarra in Spain and her PhD in Pharmacology at ICBAS/Universidade do Porto. Prof. Emília Monteiro is Principal Investigator at the Chronic Diseases Research Centre from NMS|FCM. She also has been coordinator of the Portuguese Clinical Research Infrastructure Network and national representative of PtCRIN in the European Clinical Research Infrastructure Network (ECRIN/ERIC). She is also Senior Clinical and Scientific lead of the academic clinical trial unit NOVA CRU, and presently member of the National Ethics Committee for Clinical Research, as well as a member of the scientific council of the ANSM “Agence Nationale de Sécurité du Médicament et des Produits de Santé” (France).

Bradley Nelson has been a Professor of Robotics and Intelligent Systems at ETH Zürich since 2002, where his research focuses on microrobotics and nanorobotics, with an emphasis on their applications in Biomedicine.

He studied mechanical engineering at the University of Illinois and the University of Minnesota.

Professor Nelson was named in 2005 to the “Scientific American 50" and his lab is in the 2012 Guinness Book of World Records for the “Most Advanced Mini Robot for Medical Use".

He has been the Head of Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering at ETH, Chairman of the ETH Electron Microscopy Center, and a member of the Research Council of the Swiss National Science Foundation.

James Kinross is a Consultant Surgeon and a Senior Lecturer in Colorectal Surgery at Imperial College London, and a visiting Professor at the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland. His clinical interest is in robotic surgery and minimally invasive surgery for colorectal cancer. He is the Principal Investigator on the NIHR funded iEndoscope project that uses intraoperative mass spectrometry (known as Real-time Electrospray Ionisation Mass Spectrometry or REIMS) for improving surgical precision. For the last five years his research group has developed technologies in the fields of artificial intelligence for real time decision support in the operating room and his group is developing extended reality technologies for anatomical image augmentation.

Laurence Lovat is a Consultant Gastroenterologist with training in advanced therapeutic endoscopy and a Senior Lecturer at University College London Hospitals since 1999. He studied at the University College London School of Medicine and received his PhD at the Royal Postgraduate Medical School, now part of the Imperial College London. He is active in clinical and translational research to prevent oesophageal and bowel cancer, with particular interest in Artificial Intelligence and Big Data. Presently, he is the Clinical Director of the WEISS Centre at UCL, a centre aiming to speed the translation of surgical med-tech into routine clinical use.
